Continental orders 7E7    Continental Airlines became the first major U.S. customer for Boeing Co.’s new 7E7 long-range jetliner. Houston-based Continental said it ordered 10 planes to be delivered in 2009. The deal is valued at $1.3 billion at list prices, and increases to 122 the number of 7E7 orders since their launch in April, according to Boeing.
   Continental also said it would lease eight 757-300 narrow-body aircraft from Boeing, beginning in July, and accelerate into 2006 delivery of six 737-800 aircraft previously scheduled for deliver in 2008.
   Continental said the 7E7 will help the company pursue more international business. The 7E7 is designed to carry a substantial amount of belly cargo. Boeing claims the plane will be able to carry more pallets and air containers than similar sized planes made by European rival Airbus.
   The Boeing deal is contingent on approval by Continental’s board by the end of February and the conclusion of a contract with an engine supplier for the 7E7.
