Cooper named acting director of Indiana Port Commission

Cooper named acting director of Indiana Port Commission    The Indiana Port Commission has appointed Rich Cooper acting executive director.
   Cooper replaces William Friedman, who resigned from the Indiana Port Commission Nov. 5 to become an independent consultant for freight transportation.
   Cooper has served as chief operating officer for the Ports of Indiana since 2001. Prior to that, he was global director of manufacturing and engineering for Agribrands International.
   The Ports of Indiana operates a statewide system of ports, foreign-trade zones and financing programs under the authority of the Indiana Port Commission — a seven-member board appointed by the state governor.
   Indiana’s public ports include the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville and the Port of Indiana-Mount Vernon, both located on the Ohio River, and the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor on Lake Michigan. “Our port system is on pace to handle more tonnage this year than we have in the last six years,” Cooper said in a statement.
