Port of Long Beach Harbor Commissioner Mario Cordero has been elected president of the Association of Pacific Ports for a one-year term, the port said Tuesday.
Cordero succeeds Kim B. Puzey, general manager of the Port of Umatilla in Oregon.
The association was founded in 1913 as an information association to promote trade and port efficiency in the Pacific Ocean region. All ports located in areas tributary to the Pacific Ocean are eligible to join, with current membership found in ports in American Samoa, British Columbia, California, Guam, Hawaii, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Oregon, Taiwan, and Washington.
