Corpus Christi designing multipurpose dock    Port Corpus Christi in Texas has entered an agreement with Goldston Engineering to begin design its new La Quinta Trade Gateway project.
   The multipurpose facility is expected to handle a variety of general cargo, including containers, military, wind turbines and steel pipe.
   Completion of preliminary engineering for full build-out and final design for the initial 800-foot to 1,000-foot dock will provide the necessary details to define costs and determine completion schedules. The port plans to complete the design and be ready to solicit bids for construction of the berth by the end of 2010. The full build-out is projected to include three berths.
   'This is one more step towards realizing one of the most important port diversification projects,' said John LaRue, the port's executive director, in a statement. 'Goldston Engineering is no stranger to the port, they have worked on many projects with us over the years.'
