CORRECTION: Asia exports up 15.6% in February

An item in the April 11 edition of AS Daily incorrectly stated growth rates on Asia-Europe and transatlantic trades based on monthly figures from Container Trades Statistics. Since the beginning of 2012, CTS has provided volume on a regional basis, not a trade lane basis.
The volumes and growth rates stated in the April 11 news report represent volume from Asia and North America, respectively, to the six other regions CTS tracks. To be specific, Asia export volume to Europe, North America, Africa, Australasia, South America and the Indian Subcontinent/Persian Gulf rose 15.6 percent year-on-year in February to 2.8 million TEUs. Imports to Asia grew 8.8 percent to 1.8 million TEUs. Exports from North America grew 10.6 percent in February to 1.2 million TEUs, while imports to North America increased 21.7 percent westbound to 1.4 million TEUs.
