Correction: An item in the Oct. 18 edition of AS Daily about Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) joining CMA CGM and CSAV in a vessel sharing agreement on the Asia-West Coast South America trade incorrectly portrayed the status of an MSC service. According to the agreement, CMA CGM and CSAV will withdraw one of their two jointly-operated loops on the trade, the Andex 1, and join MSC’s Andes service, while MSC will join the CMA CGM/CSAV Andex 2 service as a slot taker. MSC will brand the Andex 2 as its Alpaca service. MSC said the net effect of the VSA, which takes effect immediately, will be to reduce winter capacity by 17 percent.
