The national postal carrier of Argentina has tapped Deutsche Post DHL Group to provide expertise in logistics services, supply chain infrastructure, and domestic and international parcel service as part of an overall operational restructuring, DHL said in a statement.
In addition to carrying the mail, Correo Argentino is looking to establish itself as the top logistics services provider in Argentina, according to DHL.
For Deutsche Post DHL Group, the agreement includes a higher level of participation of its DHL Express service in Correo Argentino’s 1,500 points of sale throughout the country, as well as future collaboration in the e-commerce area.
Full details of the collaboration will be worked out over the next six months, DHL said.
Jorge Irigoin, chief executive officer of Correo Argentino, said the partnership would allow the postal carrier to create new business opportunities as well as strengthen its traditional offerings by upgrading its infrastructure and expanding the reach of its network.
“This partnership represents a great opportunity for Correo Argentino and Deutsche Post DHL Group to actively contribute to Argentina’s current growth-friendly environment, promoted by President Mauricio Macri, as this state-owned company works to become the leading provider of logistics services and expertise in the country,” added Thomas Baldry, senior vice president of International Mail & International Relations at Deutsche Post DHL. “We are glad to provide operational and logistical support, as well as our company’s expertise and guidance as Correo Argentino enters a new period of opportunity and expansion.”
