Cortese new president at Pilot Freight Services    Lima, Pa.-based Pilot Freight Services, global providers of transportation and logistics services, has promoted Lou Cortese to president after Gene Malcolm stepped down from the position due to family obligations.
   Cortese joined the company in 1985 and was most recently its executive vice president of operations and transportation. Malcolm, who joined Pilot in 1987 as a computer programmer, will remain with the company and serve as vice president of strategic planning.
   “We understand and support Gene’s decision, and will miss him on a day-to-day basis,” said Pilot’s Chairman Richie Phillips. “However, our management team remains intact and committed to delivering the highest quality service across a wide range of transportation modes and to any point throughout the world. Lou’s longstanding position within Pilot assures a seamless transition for the company, our employees and station owners, as well as our worldwide customer base.”
