COSCO GROUP MANAGEMENT MEETS TO DISCUSS STRATEGY

    The senior management of the China Ocean Shipping Co. group met in Beijing to discuss corporate strategy at a plenary session of the Chinese group’s strategy seminar.
    Wei Jiafu, president of the COSCO group, told the seminar that COSCO will do "pioneering work" and outlined three key strategies and three capabilities that have to be addressed.
    These are: a strategy for development; a strategy for scientific and technological innovation and a "flexible strategy for market sales," a spokesman for COSCO said. The three competences are: the capability for market competition, the capability of scientific and technological development, and "the capability of coping with risks."
    The meeting was attended by Chen Zhongbiao, chairman of the board of directors of the group, Gong Shangzhu, vice-chairman of the board of directors, Wang Futian, vice-secretary of the Party Committee of the group, as well as by all of the members of the strategy seminar and the persons in charge of the departments of the group.
