COSCO IN TALKS WITH FEFC ABOUT JOINING

    COSCO Container Lines, the liner arm of China Ocean Shipping Co., is talking to the Far Eastern Freight Conference about joining the conference.
COSCO Container Lines "is approached by and approaching the FEFC for potential membership," Jin Zhongming, managing director of the company, told American Shipper.
    COSCO has never been a member of any major conference, but it has joined several discussion agreements, such as the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement and the Intra-Asia Discussion Agreement in recent years.
    The date of COSCO’s potential membership of the FEFC is unknown. If confirmed, the move will be seen as a break with the past by the Chinese operator.
