COSCO joins OOCL, TSK on Asia/Mideast service

OOCL, TSK Line and COSCO Container Lines have agreed to operate a new joint service linking major Far East ports to the Middle East, a service that will increase weekly capacity by more than one-third over an existing service.

The new MEX (Middle East Express) will start on May 17, deploying five 7,500-TEU vessels. It replaces an OOCL-TSK Line service (the Middle East Asia Express, or MAX), which used five 5,500-TEU vessels. OOCL and COSCO will each provide two vessels with TSK providing the other.

The port rotation for the MEX service is Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shekou, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
