COSCO names another three 7,500-TEU ships

   COSCO Container Lines has christened three new 7,500-TEU containerships built in Korea by Hyundai Heavy Industries and financed by the German non-operating owner Nordcapital.

   The vessels are named the “COSCO Seattle,” “COSCO Vancouver” and “COSCO Yokohama” and will operate in the fleet of the Chinese shipping line under a long-term charter.

   COSCO has already taken delivery of two 7,500-TEU containerships, the “COSCO Long Beach” and “COSCO Shenzhen,” which operate in the Asia/U.S. West Coast “SEA” service. Two of the three new 7,500-TEU mega-ships will join the same service during November, replacing two 5,400-TEU vessel.
