COSCO Pacific August container volume up 24%

COSCO Pacific August container volume up 24%    Terminal operator COSCO Pacific said Wednesday its August throughput rose 24 percent, higher than year-to-date growth of 20.3 percent.
   The company, which has stakes in 17 Chinese ports and four international ones, saw August volume rise to 4.5 million TEUs, including growth of 30 percent at its six Bohai Bay terminals and 26 percent at its six Yangtze River Delta terminals.
   Volume at the company's five Pearl River Delta terminals rose nearly 18 percent. But for the year, COSCO's PRD terminals have seen the biggest percentage gains — 24.5 percent — compared to 17.9 percent in the Yangtze River Delta and 13.9 percent in the Bohai Bay.
   Volume in the three regions is fairly spread, with 10.9 million TEUs year-to-date at the Bohai terminals, 10.4 million TEUs at the PRD terminals and 6.3 million TEUs at the Yangtze terminals.
