COSCO REPORTS 95% PROGRESS TACKLING YEAR 2000 PROBLEM
The China Ocean Shipping Co. group said that it has dealt with 95.2
percent of its computer problems as part of its program to deal with the year 2000 issue.
COSCO said that it has gone through 3,009 sets of computer hardware and
operating systems out of a total of 3,083. It has also finished tackling 560 items for
computer applications systems out of a total of 605.
The remaining issues concerning computer hardware and operating systems
and computer applications systems will be completed by the end of the month, it said.
Up to now, COSCO has checked 90.4 percent of the automatic equipment on
its vessels.
