COSCO to charter 8,204-TEU ship
German ship management firm E.R. Schiffahrt last week named a 8,204-TEU containership that will be chartered to COSCO Container Lines.
The “E.R. Tianping” was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Samho, South Korea. Nordcapital Holding of Hamburg owns the vessel.
COSCO will rename the vessel “COSCO Napoli” and deploy it on its weekly Asia/Europe North China Express service.
E.R. Schiffahrt now manages 62 container ships with a total capacity of about 273,000 TEUs. It also has 16 ships on order from HHI, with a combined capacity of 77,000 TEUs, due to be delivered by 2008.
