Cost of truck operations dropped in 2012

   In 2012, the cost of operating a truck fell slightly from 2011’s result, finishing the year at an average marginal cost per mile of $1.63, according to the American Transportation Research Institute.
   In 2011, per-mile cost averaged $1.71.
   In its An Analysis of the Operational Costs of Trucking report update, ATRI wrote the weak freight market in the last two quarters of 2012, coupled with the sluggish economy, likely pushed costs down. – Jon Ross
