Cranes arrive for Mobile Steel Terminal

The Alabama State Port Authority said a ship carrying three new cranes to be installed at Mobile’s new $100 million Pinto Island steel terminal arrived at the port on Wednesday.

The heavy lift vessel Zhen Hua 25 was expected to dock at the terminal Thursday to begin the process of discharging the cranes.

When the terminal begins operation early next year it will receive slabs of steel that will be transloaded onto barges that will feed a new rolling mill being built by ThyssenKrupp 30 miles north of Mobile.
