Crate and Barrel sign for two Tracy DCs

Crate and Barrel sign for two Tracy DCs National home furnishing retailer Crate and Barrel will consolidate three existing Northern California distribution centers into two new facilities in Tracy, about 20 miles north of Stockton.
   The larger of the new facilities, at nearly 830,000 square feet, will be used to handle furniture products while a smaller nearly 400,000-square-foot building will be used to handle housewares.
   The build-to-suit deal was signed with Denver, Colo.-based industrial real estate firm ProLogis. Financial details of the lease were not released.
   Both facilities will be built according to guidelines established by the U.S. Green Building Council for LEED Certification.
   'Not only was ProLogis flexible in providing new distribution space that would accommodate our business expansion needs, they were able to support our sustainability goals as well,' said John Ling, vice president of supply chain management and logistics at Crate and Barrel.
   Crate and Barrel’s two new facilities will be the first two developments at the 160-acre ProLogis Park Tracy II. When fully built out, the park would include at least three buildings totaling more than 2.8 million square feet.
