CrowleyÆs Titan unit completes tough recovery project Crews from Fort Lauderdale-based Titan Salvage, the salvage unit of Crowley Maritime Corp., have successfully completed the difficult recovery and scuttling of a semi-submersible platform that ran aground on a remote South Atlantic island last May.
   A statement from Crowley on Friday said that Titan initially completed an assessment on the recovery of the 10,500-ton 'A Turtle' in October, and in December a casualty team arrived at the site to start work on refloating the platform. It had been damaged so severely that it could not be put back in operation, and the recovery contract called for scuttling the platform after the refloating.
   'This was a very challenging, yet rewarding job,” said Todd Busch, Titan vice president. 'We are pleased to have been able to remove the platform from the pristine waters of Trypot Bay and the beautiful island of Tristan da Cunha.'
