Crows Landing project gets go-ahead vote

Crows Landing project gets go-ahead vote The Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday gave a preliminary go-ahead to development of a major logistics center near Crows Landing and a short-haul rail connecting the center to the Port of Oakland 80 miles to the east.
   Board members voted 4-1 to allow PCCP West Park LLC to move forward with the 4,800-acre Central Valley project.
   The project will still need to pass through a lengthy environmental review process, and a final approval by the board, before construction can begin. The board estimates the review process could take up to two years.
   Residents surrounding the proposed site have criticized the project, citing increased traffic and environmental impacts.
   The developer estimates that 37,000 jobs would be created by the time the project is built out in 2038.
