CSA carriers to hike bunker surcharge

   Member carriers of the Caribbean Shipowners Association will increase bunker fuel surcharges, effective June 4.

   The surcharge on 20-foot containers will increase $42 to $144, 40-foot containers will increase $84 to $272, equipment over 40 feet will go up $95 to $309, and the charge for vehicles up to 700 cubic feet will increase $25 to $74.

   The surcharge will be applicable for both northbound and southbound shipments between the United States and Anguilla, Barbados, Dominca, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

   Member carriers are Bernuth Lines, CMA-CGM, Crowley Liner Services, Interline, Seaboard Marine, SeaFreight Line and Tropical Shipping.
