CSA hopes to help with port security The Caribbean Shipping Association is putting together a program to help smaller Caribbean ports meet the demands of post-9/11 security improvements.
   Security at smaller ports in the Caribbean was a primary topic at a recent meeting of the CSA General Council in Kingston, Jamaica, said CSA President Fernando Rivera.
   'Our main goal is to develop an action plan to assess the security necessities of all territories within the region, with an emphasis on those small countries,' Rivera said. 'The action plan will be presented and discussed with a number of bodies in the region, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Caricom (the Caribbean Community), the Organization of American States, and other important organizations.'
   Once security needs have been assessed, then U.S. and Caribbean government entities will be able to address specific needs for specific locations to make funding decisions, he said.
