CSAV cuts Far East ports from Pacific Caribbean service

CSAV cuts Far East ports from Pacific Caribbean service Chilean ocean carrier Compania Sud Americana de Vapores appears to have dropped the Far East leg of its Pacific Caribbean (PACAR) service so that it is now a dedicated Mexico/Central America/North Coast South America loop.
   According to the sailing schedule on CSAV’s Web site, the PACAR now uses four ships averaging 1,160 TEUs on an eight-day frequency calling Manzanillo, Mexico; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; Rio Haina, Dominican Republic; La Guaira, Venezuela; Puerto Cabello, Venezuela; Cartagena; Puerto Caldera; Puerto Quetzal; and back to Manzanillo. Asian ports previously served on the PACAR were Busan, Shanghai, Chiwan and Hong Kong.
   Argentina’s Maruba Lines said it has joined the PACAR as of today while Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica also shows the schedule on its site.
