CSAV says volumes continue to grow
Chilean container shipping company CSAV said its January container volume was 295,600 TEUs compared to 189,100 in January 2010, and the company's highest monthly in three years.
However, freight rates fell. Using an index that pegs average container revenues per TEU at 2,000 points in 2008, rates fell for the fourth month an a row to 1,605.5 in January 2011, down from a peak of 2,025.1 in September 2010. Rates, however, were higher than January 2010 when the index was at 1,550.8.
