CSAV took delivery of the sixth of those ships this week and said the remaining ship will be delivered this month.
The 8,000-TEU ships are being chartered to Maersk though next summer, but the company said their purchase is part of a strategy to increase the portion of the fleet CSAV owns rather than charters. Owned capacity will climb to 37 percent in the second half of this year compared to 9 percent at the beginning of 2011.
