CSAV turns big Q3 profit
Chilean liner carrier CSAV said last week it netted $218.9 million in operating profits in the third quarter, a major recovery from the $584.5 in operating losses it incurred in the same period in 2009.
The line's revenue surged 85.6 percent to $4.1 billion, helped mainly by a huge increase in chartered capacity that drove up volumes by 74 percent over the third quarter 2009. Freight rates, the line said, were 24 percent higher.
CSAV has been the most active line in adding capacity, surging into the top 10 lines of deployed fleet capacity this year.
