CSAV upgrades Asia/South America vessels

   Liner carrier CSAV said Tuesday it is increasing capacity on its ASAX service between Asia and the East Coast of South America by rotating in larger vessels.

   The Chilean line said beginning Dec. 22, it will start switching out vessels of 4,300 TEUs to 5,300 TEUs with 6,500-TEU vessels. According to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data, the 12-ship service (operated with 11 CSAV vessels and one Libra-Montemar vessel) has a current average capacity of 4,473 TEUs and a rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Santos, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Itajai, Paranagua, Santos, Singapore, Hong Kong and Qingdao.
