CSI operations commence in Ashdod
The Port of Ashdod Israel became the 54th port to inspect cargo bound for the United States under the Container Security Initiative, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced.
Israel agreed in March to enlist the ports of Ashdod and Haifa in the security partnership.
U.S. Customs officers are now stationed at the port to help identify suspicious cargo for X-ray and radiation scanning.
