CSX APPOINTS EXECUTIVES AT CSXT, CSX INTERMODAL

CSX Corp. said Clarence W. Gooden has been named senior vice president-merchandise service group for CSX Transportation, and Alan P. Blumenfeld has been named president of CSX Intermodal Inc.

Gooden replaces William J. Flynn, who has been named chief executive officer of GeoLogistics Corp., a global freight and logistics company.

Formerly president of CSX Intermodal, Gooden will now lead CSXT's largest commercial group, representing nearly half of the company's revenue. He will oversee the sales and marketing of key commodities, including chemicals, paper and forest products, agricultural products, minerals, food and consumer goods, phosphates and fertilizers and metals. He joined CSX in 1970 and has managed the company's network and transportation field operations and headed the coal service group before being named president of CSXI in 2001.

In succeeding Gooden, Blumenfeld moves from leading CSXT's e-business functions. He spent several years with CSXT and CSX Technology, and 14 years with General Electric.

Gooden and Blumenfeld will be based in Jacksonville, Fla. CSX Corp. is headquartered in Richmond, Va.
