CSX certifies N.C. industrial property as rail ready

CSX said Thursday it has designated the Mid-Atlantic Industrial Rail Park in Brunswick County, N.C., as a Select Site, meaning the railroad has addressed permits, utility access and other standard land issues in advance to make it fast and simple for manufacturers to locate operations on the property.
The Mid-Atlantic Industrial Rail Park is a large property located less than 20 miles from the Port of Wilmington.
CSX introduced the Select Site program in 2012 to help manufacturers identify suitable manufacturing and distribution locations that could access its rail network. CSX partnered with The Austin Co., a site selection firm, to screen candidate sites and assist communities with the application and certification process.
To receive CSX Select Site designation, a location must meet several criteria, including infrastructure and utility availability, completed environmental reviews, appropriate zoning and entitlement, air quality permitting, and proximity to highways.
CSX then helps to market the property to developers and businesses.
