CSX TERMINAL ARM SETS UP MAINTENANCE SERVICE COMPANY

CSX World Terminals, the port operating arm of CSX Corp., has set up a wholly owned subsidiary specializing in crane maintenance services.

CSX World Crane Services will provide crane maintenance, engineering and procurement services to terminal operators, carriers and port authorities.

CSX World Terminals said that its new subsidiary will perform crane maintenance for Maersk Sealand at its U.S. facilities and for the U.S. domestic shipping line CSX Lines at its U.S. and Puerto Rico locations. CSX World Terminals’ own cranes will also be maintained by CSX World Crane Services.

CSX World Terminals, based in Charlotte, N.C., was created last year when Sea-Land Service, Inc. reorganized into three separate businesses.

CSX World Terminals also announced the formation of an alliance with the engineering firm Gottlieb, Barnett & Bridges Inc. Through the partnership, CSX World Crane Services will offer specialized engineering, maintenance and procurement services, the company said.
