CSX to move 300 Jacksonville dispatch jobs
CSX Corp. plans to move some 300 dispatcher jobs now in Jacksonville to dispatch centers in six other states, according to a report in the Florida Times Union.
The report said the job shifts would take place over the next two years, through August 2009. Jacksonville-based CSX explained that the local dispatch center has served as a central dispatch office overseeing the entire network, which includes four centers located on the East Coast and in the Midwest. But the company wants to move dispatchers closer to their respective coverage areas to improve productivity and efficiencies.
Jobs will be shifted to CSX offices in Baltimore; Nashville; Huntington, W. Va.; Cincinnati; Florence, S.C.; and Atlanta, the report said.
