CSXI EXPANDS BNSFÆS MEXI-MODAL SERVICE INTO NORTHEAST
CSX Intermodal, a unit of CSX Corp., has become a participant in Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Corp.'s Mexi-Modal transborder intermodal service.
CSXI's participation expands the service into U.S. Northeast markets, including Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City.
Mexi-Modal, launched in June, coordinates door-to-door transborder shipping between Canada, the United States and Mexico, through cooperation with Canadian National Railway Co., CSXI, Transportation Ferroviaria Mexicana (TFM) and several Mexican trucking companies.
The coordinated service offers a “truck-competitive, easy-to-use transportation option into and out of Mexico,” said Clarence Gooden, CSXI's president.
