CSXT joins EPA’s climate leaders program

CSXT joins EPA’s climate leaders program CSX Transportation on Friday became the first railroad to join the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Leaders program, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through voluntary targets.
   CSXT said that since 1980 it has improved its fuel efficiency by about 73 percent, and in the last five years invested more than $1 billion upgrading its fleet with low-emission locomotives.
   “EPA is proud to work in collaboration with our industry partners to voluntarily reduce their climate footprints in cost-effective ways,” said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson. “By reaching their ambitious greenhouse gas reduction goals, leading companies like CSXT are proving they can protect our environment while boosting their bottom lines.”
