Cuban carrier Coral Container Lines ceases operations
Havana-based Coral Container Lines has ceased operations, one of the Cuban company’s agents said.
Robert Reford Inc., former agent in Canada for Coral, said that another Cuban carrier, Melfi Marine, appears to have taken over the former services of Coral. Coral could not be reached to comment on these developments.
Coral had offered services between Mexico and Cuba, and took space on the Mediterranean/Canada/Cuba service of Costa Container Lines, an Italian shipping line. Coral provided no service between the United States and Cuba, a trade still subject to a trade embargo by the U.S. government.
