CURRENCY LOSSES CUT SWISSCARGO PROFIT
Swisscargo’s profit for 1998 fell to 3.2 million Swiss francs ($2.2
million) from 28.1 million Swiss francs a year earlier because of
exchange-rate losses from Asian currency depreciation.
The company described the results as "unsatisfactory," but
noted that
if exchange rates had remained at 1997 levels, pretax profit would have
risen 8.5 percent.
