Dachser implements all-electric vehicles in Germany

The logistics provider will use the Daimler-built commercial vehicles for urban last-mile deliveries, Dascher said in a statement.    Logistics provider Dachser announced the launch of all-electric commercial vehicles for use in the German cities of Berlin and Stuttgart.
   Made by Daimler, two all-electric Fuso eCanter light-duty commercial vehicles will go into operation in spring 2018 for last-mile deliveries. “These trucks are a part of our city distribution project to expand our innovative and sustainable concept for city-center deliveries,” said Stefan Hohm, corporate director of corporate solutions, research & development at Dachser. The vehicles will deliver pallets of manufactured goods, either to micro hubs or directly to customers, and will collect goods and bring them to Dachser’s branches in Berlin and Stuttgart. “These electric trucks are ideal for city centers and that’s where they will mostly be found,” said Hohm.
   Depending on the city’s requirements, the local Dachser branch can implement custom solutions chosen from a modular toolbox, which includes finding the right combination of vehicles for downtown deliveries. “We chose the Fuso eCanter because it is the first all-electric truck to enter full-scale production, so it will add momentum to its entire class of commercial vehicles,” said Hohm. The vehicles offer a range of about 62 miles and a load capacity of up to 3.9 tons, depending on the distance and load per trip, said Dachser.
