DaimlerChrysler, Schenker open industrial park in Bremen

DaimlerChrysler and Schenker Deutschland on Friday officially opened a supplier park in Bremen, Germany for production of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Construction of the site began in December 2005 and the park has been phased into operation since October 2006. The industrial park already provides jobs for more than 300, including suppliers’ staff. With a covered surface area of 27,000 square meters, the park can be extended by a further 30,000 square meters.

At present Schenker Deutschland delivers about 21,000 vehicle parts and modules per day to DaimlerChrysler’s production plant in the Sebaldsbr'ck district of Bremen, about six kilometers away from the park. Schenker uses the park to combine parts provided by more than 20 sub-suppliers from across the globe and then route them to and in sequence with the assembly lines.
