Damco launches control tower orchestration program

The third-party logistics provider has released a new control tower orchestration program aimed at allowing its customers to evolve to handle supply chain optimization through a single platform.

The third-party logistics provider Damco said Tuesday it has released a new control tower orchestration program aimed at allowing its customers to evolve to handle supply chain optimization through a single platform.
The product, Supply Chain Orchestrator, is also intended to help companies improve overall supply chain visibility. The program provides a single coordination point for “integrating, validating and distributing data across supply chain partners…with predictive and analytical techniques allowing teams to detect and respond to events before they affect performance.”
The program is designed for companies to move in three steps – first, to gain end-to-end visibility; second, to improve supplier performance; and third, to optimize across all providers.
“We call it Supply Chain Orchestrator because organizations can orchestrate all the separate supply chain actions in real-time from one platform, much like a conductor controls the flow and tempo of an orchestra to create perfect harmony,” said Neil Wheeldon, head of Damco’s global product development.
Wheeldon said the program is intended to help companies save on supply chain and inventory costs, improve service levels and engage suppliers in a more collaborative way.
The control tower orchestration tool includes a dashboard and shipment-related key performance indicators, rule-based partner selection controls, shipment and order planning, and performance monitoring and alerting. Optimization can be applied to individual daily deliveries.
