Damco opens Le Havre office

Damco, the logistics and freight forwarding division of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, has opened a new office in the Port of Le Havre in France.

The new office is Damco's third office in France aside from its main branch in Lezennes and Dunkirk.

'Le Havre port is a very strategic place and it is very important for us to have this office, which is also near the offices of customs administration, shipping lines and other forwarding agents,' said Laurent Clement, branch manager. 'With this new office, we can now better compete with other freight forwarders and offer our customers a complete end-to-end solution.'

Damco said it is aiming to open offices in the main ports and airports in France through 2012.

“Damco France is well known and recognized in the market for its supply chain solutions as it has already been working for years with the biggest French retailers,' Clement said. 'It is in our intention to complete this experience with adapted forwarding capacities such as airfreight and customs clearance.'
