DAT integrates MacroPoint tracking solution for broker users

The integration allows users to track freight carried by third-party drivers and for-hire carriers, including automated location updates from a driver’s cell phone.    The third-party freight tracking software MacroPoint has partnered with DAT Keypoint to integrate MacroPoint’s tracking technology into DAT’s broker-based transportation management system.
   The integration allows DAT’s TMS broker users to track freight carried by third-party drivers and for-hire carriers. Users can receive automated location updates from a driver’s cell phone of any type, including standard flip phones.
   “Because the MacroPoint solution can be deployed on a load-by-load basis, our non-asset-based customers have an extremely cost-effective way to track loads from pickup to delivery,” said Steve Blair, general manager for DAT Keypoint, in a statement.
   MacroPoint enables validated location updates without requiring in-cab tracking hardware. This allows DAT Keypoint users to provide load tracking for any carrier using a cell phone.
