Davies Turner selects Cargoplan as U.K./India ocean freight agent
U.K.-based freight forwarder Davies Turner has appointed Cargoplan International as its agent for ocean freight services between the United Kingdom and India.
Cargoplan was established in May 2005 by Sri Lankan forwarding and logistics provider Freight Links International and now has offices in all the country's major cities and ports.
Davies Turner operates weekly container groupage services from the United Kingdom to Mumbai, Nhava Sheva, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Tuticorin, Cochin and Delhi, with collection available via its network of depots around Britain and Ireland. Import services operate weekly from Mumbai.
'We see India as one of our key growth markets for the future,' said Philip Stephenson, Davies Turner's joint managing director. 'India's leading role in software development and membership of the World Trade Organization has opened up new markets in Europe, while India itself imports a wide range of goods from the U.K., including machinery, vehicles, spare parts and high tech goods.'
Davies Turner's existing agency agreement with AFL for air freight shipments between the two countries remains unchanged.
