DB Intermodal Services opens international unit

DB Intermodal Services GmbH, a complementary services subsidiary of DB Intermodal, has appointed Manfred Michel to manage its new International Terminals business unit.

Michel will continue his assignments with two Deutsche Bahn joint ventures, namely Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene-Stra'e mbH (DUSS), where he has been managing director since 1992, and China United International Rail Containers Co. Ltd. (CUIRC), where he has been chief operations officer since 2007.

DB Intermodal Services’ two existing units, Depot & Trucking and Transshipment Stations and Equipment Management, will continue to be managed by Gerhard Bukowski and Michael Heinemann, respectively.

“This new structure reflects the increasing internationalization of our business in the terminal sector,” said Sebastian J'rgens, head of the intermodal business unit.
