DB Schenker launches new Asia service for faster freight

   DB Schenker’s new “Asia Landbridge” service will help speed up freight transportation across Asia, the company announced Monday. 
   “Our network for this new product covers China and the ASEAN countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos,” stated Thomas Lieb, chairman of the Schenker AG board of management. “These countries rank amongst the fastest-growing economies in the world. Overcoming borders is the only way to ensure that this growth can continue — and that is what our customers bank on.”
   The 23-station route is handled by partner companies, and is run by a 24/7 control center.
   Previously, the company said, most freight in Asia was transported by sea. The new transportation plan relies on special air-suspension trucks, allowing the transport of sensitive and electronic goods.
