The French shipping line has operated as a non-conference carrier in this trade since 1992, when the European Commission levied fines of $19 million to punish the carrier’s anticompetitive practices in the Europe/West Africa trade as a conference member.
Delmas and its sister company OT Africa Line became members of the Europe/West Africa Trade Agreement conference Monday. Other carriers of the conference are Maersk Sealand and its sister company Safmarine, Nile Dutch Africa Line, P&O Nedlloyd and West-Afrika Linien-Dienste.
