Delta in merger talks with Northwest, United
Delta Airlines is reportedly in merger talks with both Northwest Airlines as well as UAL, parent of United Airlines.
U.S. Congressman Jim Oberstar is quoted by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and other media outlets as saying he confirmed the talks with Northwest executives in his Washington office on Tuesday.
Reportedly he also was told Northwest might look for another partner if Delta and United combine.
Oberstar is chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
