DeLuca named to Port Alberni port board

DeLuca named to Port Alberni port board The Canadian Government has appointed local realtor and businessman Darren DeLuca to the board of directors of the Port Alberni Port Authority.
   Lawrence Cannon, the Canadian Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, made the announcement Wednesday, citing DeLuca's business experience as a major factor in the appointment. DeLuca will join the five-member port authority board for a three-year term.
   DeLuca has owned and operated Vancouver Island Guide Outfitters Inc. since 2003 and is a member of the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Alberni Valley Sport Fish Advisory Board, a director of the Vancouver Island Regional Wildlife Management Society and chair of the Aboriginal affairs committee of the Guide Outfitter Association of British Columbia.
   Located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, the port is a major export location for the island lumber industry.
