Descartes purchases Pacific Coast Tariff Bureau Descartes Systems Group, a software-as-a-service provider to the logistics industry, said today it has acquired the assets of privately held San Francisco-based Pacific Coast Tariff Bureau Inc. in a $2.1 million all-cash transaction.
   The 60-year-old PCTB provides tariff and contract publishing services to major ocean carriers, non-vessel-operating common carriers and shippers to assist them in complying with U.S. regulations for domestic and foreign shipping trades. PCTB also provides ocean contracts and freight rates management technology to its customers.
   The purchase price included direct transaction costs incurred during the acquisition. Waterloo, Ontario-based Descartes said in a release that it would incur transition costs over the next year as it undertakes to integrate PCTB.
