Descartes reports higher earnings    Descartes Systems Group, a logistics software-as-a-service provider, reported fiscal year first quarter net income of $2.2 million, double the $1.1 million in the prior year period.
   Revenue for the period ending April 30 was $17.4 million, up 7 percent from $16.3 million in the first quarter of last fiscal year.
   The Ontario, Canada based company reported results in U.S. dollars. It said 14 percent of revenue came from Canada, 64 percent from elsewhere in the Americas, 20 percent from Europe, Middle East and Africa, and 2 percent from the Asia Pacific region.
   'Our focus over the past quarter has continued to be on operating efficiently while completing and integrating acquisitions,' said Stephanie Ratza, the firm’s chief financial officer.
