Deutsche Post: 1st quarter “very satisfactory”
Germany’s Deutsche Post World Net, owners of DHL, said Tuesday that business in the first quarter of this year was “very satisfactory with underlying profits making progress year on year and being in line with our targets and guidance.”The Bonn-based conglomerate said volume growth and general trends, particularly in the logistics and express divisions, were similar to the latter part of 2007. The intake of new orders from major accounts (Global Customer Solutions) and from logistics was encouraging, it added.
Meanwhile, the company said it is making progress in refining its plan to improve DHL’s U.S. express business and that a further announcement will follow on the matter by the end of May.
Deutsche Post will publish its detailed first quarter results on May 14.
